IRL Education

Overview

It is any sport’s fundamental responsibility, and one of IRL’s strategic aims, to develop technical competency and to continuously improve standards of coaches and match officials across the membership.

Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications exist for both coaching and match officiating and will shortly be available in multiple languages. Each qualification has two stages to completion; Certification (attendance and completion of all on-course requirements and assessments) and Accreditation (completion of the post-course requirements and assessments known as CATO and CATO+).

CATO stands for "Consolidation, Application, Team / Train, Observation" and guides candidates through putting their learning into practice under the guidance of an Educator.
