Wales were always in control against Ireland and relatively eased to a win to open their U18 Four Nations account.
An excellent run from Harley Smith gave Wales the lead on ten minutes. Charlie Newton converted.
Sadly a serious injury to Ireland winger John Reynolds held up the game for half an hour and when play did eventually get underway, Wales continued their good form.
Ralf Roberts was next over the line for Wales, but the try was disallowed for a forward pass.
However, the next Wales try was allowed, scored by Daniel Wilds and converted by Newton.
Oscar Jones soon followed him over with Newton converting again.
Then just before half-time, Evan Rowlands made a fine run to score Wales' fourth try to put the score onto 22-0 at the break.
Ireland finally got on the board nine minutes into the second half thanks to a good run and try from Ieffe Hannon. Isaac Baynham converted.
Wales played most of the rest of the game with 12 players. First, Regan Preece was yellow carded, then not long after he returned, Jacob Morris was sent to the bin. However, a few minutes after that, Preece scored in the corner and Newton converted.
Ireland did manage a try back through Roger Doyle, converted by Baynham, but the match ended with Jack Wilcox picking up his own kick to score under the posts. Newton converted as the whistle blew.
Wales are top of the table after round one after England beat Scotland 32-12 in the other opening match.
