Wales Women will part in their first ever Senior International Match when they face England on Friday at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, Warrington. The journey started in 2019 when they played their first two representative games – a defeat to Great Britain teachers before beating England Lions, a side selected from players outside of Super League, in St Helens. But this time, Wales will be facing the full England side and there are several changes from the 2019 line-ups with ten potential new caps.

England Women’s Head Coach Craig Richards has selected his 19-player squad and he includes five new caps plus one returning players with a 14-year gap on her international CV. Wigan Warriors’ Vicky Molyneux could earn her first England cap since a 2007 victory over France.

Richards commented, “I’m delighted to have been able to select a handful of players who could all make their international debuts against Wales and I’m excited to see what some of these players can do on the big stage.

“This is a great opportunity for all of my players to put their best foot forward and show me they want to be in that squad ahead of the Rugby League World Cup later this year.”

Thomas Brindle, Head Coach of the Welsh is excited to see what his charges can do against the more experienced team saying, “The effort from all the players has been outstanding, and we are looking forward to being part of this historic international match and to seeing the progress we’ve made so far. The game will be an important milestone for women’s Rugby League in Wales, as it will inspire the next generation.”
