Former French international Rémi Casty will take charge of the nation's under 19s team as the 2025 World Cup hosts focus on fast tracking the development of home grown talent.

Casty, who made 23 international appearances for France and played more than 300 Super League matches for Catalans, as well as a stint with Sydney Roosters in 2014 under FFRXIII coaching director Trent Robinson, has spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach with Toulouse.

He succeeds Eric Anselme, who has taken the opposite path by joining the staff of Toulouse Olympique XIII.

Assistant coach Florian Chautard, head trainer Loïc Carpene and video analyst Nicolas Manessi will stay on in their roles to work with Casty.

"I am proud and honoured to be named coach of the France U19 team, being part of the France club and participating in the development of our young players,” Casty said.

“We have big ambitions in sight this year, with several Test matches, including one against the English academy, and next year with the European Cup to go conquer.

“The France team has always had an important place in my career and I am happy to be able to follow, select and guide future generations towards the next World Cups in 2025 and 2029."

FFR high performance coach Gilles Dumas said Casty’s appointment was significant development for France’s World Cup ambitions.

“Rémi had an exceptional professional career. Having played in the Super League and the NRL, in particular, he will be able to share all his experience with our young hopefuls. He is very motivated and has already set to work to prepare for the next deadlines."
