Red Star Belgrade Rugby League Club has continued its dominance of Serbian Rugby League by winning third straight Serbian Cup, defeating Dorćol Tigers 38-6 (20-0 h/t) in the final held at SC Inge. Overall, it is their fourth cup win and extends their unbeaten domestic run to 3 years.

The up and coming Tigers were very motivated to ensure that their "Cinderella" cup story had a happy ending by lifting their first trophy, but the holders proved once again they are team to beat in Serbia.

Led by the impressive Miloš Ćalić and Vladica Nikolić the Serbian champions stormed to early lead and never turned back. Aleksandar Đorđević benefitted from a great start by the pack as he scored two first half tries, and the Dedić brothers were very instrumental with their open field running.

Red Star's defence was too strong for the spirited but young Tigers team who were led by the legendary Serbian captain Dalibor Vukanović who had entered season as Dorćol’s player coach but announced that Sunday's game would be his swan song, which he marked by scoring a consolation try in the end of the game.

“It was a far harder game than the final score suggests. We stuck to the game plan and executed it perfectly so we are happy with another trophy”, said Red Star sport director Slobodan Manak.
