“This is something I never even dreamed about.” Ben Garcia, captain of Catalans Dragons on hearing that France will host the World Cup in 2025.

Garcia will be one of the most experienced members of the French squad when the tournament arrives and he is ready and eager for the challenge, “The is just great news and a super opportunity for the French Federation to grow the game but also for us as players. It’s not something that I imagined, I didn’t expect it but for us as players, we can re-light the fire of French rugby league.”

We have the pieces in place to be successful, young players have been getting their chance with the Dragons and that will continue. The promotion of Toulouse to Super League gives even more chances to French players to play at the top level. We have this year’s world cup in England and two more years to prepare our challenge.

“We all have the chance to make the next step in the development of our sport in France, we have had some difficulties but this our opportunity to attract new players and bring people who have little or no knowledge of rugby league into the sport. Together we can re-launch rugby league in France.”
