Jess Sergis was presented with the International Rugby League Golden Boot for 2019 at a ceremony in Perth prior to the NRL Nines.

The International Rugby League Golden Boot is awarded to the player adjudged by a panel of rugby league media drawn from across the world to have put in the best performances in international games

The trophy was presented by International Rugby League Chair, Greg Barclay and IRL independent director, Emma Young.

Jess Sergis (Australia) was selected against stiff opposition from Australia’s Ali Brigginshaw, PNG Orchids captain, Elsie Albert and England’s Emily Rudge. Jess is the second winner of the Golden Boot for the women’s game following Isabelle Kelly in 2018.

The competition for the trophy was even more fierce in 2019 as there were more women’s international games played in 2019 than ever before with 12 different nations playing full international matches.

The Golden Boot trophy is a new trophy sculpted in bronze by Steve Winterburn, who created the world-famous rugby league statue at Wembley Stadium.
