International Rugby League (IRL) has concluded a review of the activities of the Lebanese Rugby League Federation (LRLF) following questions raised about the most recent election and the organisation’s financial arrangements.

The review was conducted by IRL special counsel, David Birchall and has concluded that LRLF is a compliant full member of IRL, that the most recent election was properly validated and that its financial controls are robust and meet the requirements of IRL.

Commenting upon the review and the findings, David Birchall said;

“I am happy that we have concluded this matter and moved towards reconciliation. I would like to thank LRLF CEO Nayef Abisaid and his colleagues for their willingness to address the issues raised and their constructive approach to try to encourage all clubs to participate in the democratic process.

“We are mindful of the difficult political and economic situation that is currently affecting Lebanon, however we can all look forward to the continuation of a vibrant domestic competition and to the successful participation of the Cedars in RLWC2021.”
