Frank Watio was already a local hero in the Cameroon rugby league community as he was one of the international players who travelled four days by road with his team mates to play in the MEA Championship in Lagos, Nigeria. Frank is fullback for the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, the national team and also for his club team, Panda Rugby League from Yaounde. In 2019, they were the national champions.

However, Frank has taken on international super-star status a a video of a try that he scored has gone global with thousands of people viewing, commenting and sharing the clip on social media.

Channel Nine, Australia featured the clip on their social media and this week, on their Sunday Sport programme, selected the try as number one in their top sporting moments of the week, even beating a hole-in-one at the PGA's Charles Schwab Championship.

Frank said;

"I can’t believe how from people Yaounde to Australia and around the rest of the world have shown so much interest in this video. It means a lot to us all involved with Cameroon Rugby League and also the other rugby league nations like us.

"I am still learning the game of rugby league but already it has taught me so much and it has gave me the chance to be better parent for my children.

I would like to thank all the people involved in Cameroon Rugby League. Thanks also to International Rugby League and to Channel Nine in Australia for taking such an interest and sharing the video."
