A New Online Destination for International Rugby League

International Rugby League (IRL) has launched a redesigned customer-friendly website as part of its ongoing digital overhaul. It will provide fans a one-stop online destination for news, fixtures, results and all international rugby league content.

Following the rename and new look of IRL last year, the launch of www.IntRL.Sport is the next major step in modernising and professionalising the brand.

Commenting on the development, IRL Chief Executive Nigel Wood said:

“In a year of unprecedented challenges for all sport, the launch of the new website is a beacon of positivity for international rugby league. It’s a great sign of collaboration with our 53 strong, and growing, membership and we will continue to work with them to take the sport to more people globally.”

The website is phase two of IRL’s evolving digital architecture. In 2019 the digital asset management (DAM) platform was built to host an archive of international rugby league imagery and footage. Later in 2020, the IRL member portal will link everything together. The new platform will digitise and centralise administrative tasks, facilitate the match sanctioning process and annual membership audit easing some of the administrative burden on members.  The portal will provide a range of resources to help members to govern the sport in their country.

Sara Piper, who has led the project said:

“Over the coming months www.IntRL.sport will provide more and more international rugby league content for fans and members alike. We will finally have a single destination for results dating back to 1908, as well as information on rugby league’s global governance, member profiles, IRL competitions and upcoming fixtures.

This is a big step in creating a professional shopfront and enhancing future commercial opportunities for IRL and its Members.”

The “.sport” URL is a joint venture initiative with the Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAIFS), strengthening IRL’s ties with the association and furthering the commitment to becoming a full member.
