CONGO RUGBY LEAGUE

Rugby League in congo 

Congo Rugby League was created on 20th January 2015. It was created in Uvira as a synergy of non-profit associations with a vision of development of sports activities to help young people be more competitive in different sports. 

GOVERNANCE 

Congo Rugby League has an independent board of directors and responds to its member clubs through bi-annual meetings of the Rugby League Council. 

Congo Rugby League is responsible for Community Rugby League in the DRC, as well as professional play. Through the federation "RDC CONGO RUGBY LEAGUE XIII" reserves the following areas of intervention: The sport of Rugby XIII, Health in all its forms, Agriculture and breeding, Protection of the environment, Human rights.

NATIONAL COMPETITION

Congo Rugby League has a total recorded number of 200 active participants in DR Congo as at the end of 2019, with the aim of having at least 500 active participants in 2021.

National competitions take place between local teams:

  2. RL COEUR DE LION,
  3. RL BUFFLE,
  4. RL LE COQ,
  5. RL TIGRE,
  6. RL LA BALEINE,
  7. RL JAGUARD,
  8. RL LA COLOMBE

Congo Rugby League attempts to twin with neighbouring Burundi on development initiatives where possible.
